Stuffing the Body

A look at the Mr. Saturn skin and detached nose.

Turn the skin inside out. Now you'll need to cut a circle of pink cloth for the bottom of the Mr. Saturn. There's no pattern for this but that's okay. Just put the Saturn skin on top of the cloth and cut a generous circle around it. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Place the circle good-side down on top of the hole of the inside-out skin. You'll have to pin them together, but there's a specific way of doing it. As you can see here, it's very important to keep the ring of pins as circular as you can make them.

Here is how it looks from the side. You'll want the edge of the Saturn skin to stick out. And when you pin it, make very sure that the ring of pins is consistently 1 cm from the edge of the skin.

If you want, you can remove a few pins in order to turn it inside out and see what it looks like. If you are satisfied with the bottom of the Mr. Saturn, turn it back to the bad side. It's time to sew around the skin and bottom together. Using the basic stitch, sew neatly along where the pins are, removing pins as you go. I recommend you begin sewing at the side of the Mr. Saturn, that way the stuffing hole will later be covered by one of the feet. Anyways, DO NOT sew completely around. Leave enough of a hole so you can turn the skin inside out, including enough room to gently ease out the ribbon and whiskers.

Time to stuff! Fluff up the stuffing so that it's not in lumps. Squeeze Mr. Saturn once in a while to make sure the stuffing is evenly distributed and it's as full as you want it to be.

Use the ladder stitch to close the stuffing hole. When the hole is completely sewn, tie a knot and hide the remainder of the string in the body.

A horrific noseless, legless Mr. Saturn.

Attach the nose to the face using pins in the same way you did before. It doesn't need to be stuffed fully yet, but you should make sure that you're satisfied with the nose's position.

Starting from the bottom of the nose, use the hidden stitch to attach the nose to the body, removing pins as you go.

When you have almost completely circled the nose, add extra stuffing if you need to. Stitch up the opening.

Ta da!
